Da rezarekt
I once had a crush, on a girl so much
That I'd do anything just to sample her touch
She was funky, her body had so much soul
The rhythm in her walk made her shine like gold
When I got a little older on my own two feet
I got a new girl with a brand new beat
she gave me culture, I swear I was breakin' for her
Write our names on the wall just to cling to her
I would sing to her with a slick new talk
I was hip to the hop that was in her walk
Now I got a new girl and she right up my alley
She all the way live like guitar sally
She a pink type punk with a whole lotta spunk
Me, I'm so hip hop with a whole lotta funk
Supreme - Da Rezarekt

Robbie Hazan and the Riot
With a bright voice and sharp music sensibility, singer-songwriter Robbie Hazen knows it takes just three to start a riot. Hazen?s trio records and performs compositions that blend acoustic college rock, alt pop, and indie folk with an invigorating sense of fun, cleverness, and confidence. A recent Notre Dame graduate, the 23-year-old Floridian is a veteran songwriter and performer who got his start as a young teenager, playing carnivals, festivals, and church events and building on those experiences, recording, putting out demos, learning the business side of music-making and production and attracting the attention of recording-industry movers and shakers.

I want not only the music and melody to move people, but the lyrics and story as well,? says Hazen. His buoyant songs deal with the connections between people, our relationships, the ties that survive and the ones that don?t. More recently he?s exploring the themes of politics, social issues, and what unites us in the wider world.

Keystoned

Keystoned was formed as a duo with Watts taking the lead guitar role and Dougherty on Lead vocals and Rhythm guitar. They found a common ground in musical tastes and writing styles and began to showcase their tunes at various venues in the greater Philadelphia area. Taking up a residency at a local bar they began to court several musicians in hopes of creating a full band lineup. Later Don Schex, an long time friend and past band mate of Steve's, joined the band and held it down it in on bass. Following Doug Panzer's arrival, kicking it on drums, Keystoned had captured the sound they had initially desired. Keystoned music is based around strong structured songs, exceptional musicianship and creative songwriting.

Prophets in Stereo

Friday
January 8

Prophets in Stereo is a Bucks County based band formed in the late summer of 2008. Singer and songwriter James Seward, guitarist Christ Covatta, bassist Ben Cleal and drummer Dan Quill quickly developed a unique and progressive sound reminiscent of their multitude of influences, primarily bluegrass, jazz and rock.

The project is songwriter James Seward’s first endeavor into a full band scenario since releasing two critically acclaimed folk albums with Steve Garvey of the legendary punk band The Buzzcocks. Prophets in Stereo recorded their first record full length album in the winter of 2009, which was produced by Andrew Weiss, whose credits include Ween, and the Rollins Band. The album was released July 30, 2009.

The Electric Farm

Amanda Penecale

Saturday
January 9

The Electric Farm
Singer-songwriter, Steve Forbert, described The Electric Farm’s self-titled CD as sounding like British folk favorite Nick Drake. Now imagine that through a filter of Ray Davies and Neil Young by way of Bright Eyes and Elliott Smith and you'll get an inkling of the sound of The Electric Farm. The band consists of Joey Mutis, the songwriter, lead musician, and producer of all the CDs and bassist, Adam Winokur. Occasionally a full band plays with Joey at local PA gigs.

Amanda Penecale
Amanda is a Bucks County, Pa based singer-songwriter and artist.  She is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in Illustration and Photography. Her ideas for song craft stem from her interest in creating something from nothing, and her process is very similar to her fine art. Now an art teacher, Amanda continues to write music and play throughout the Philadelphia region.  She enjoys reading, shooting with a variety of cameras, baking pies, and scribbling important thoughts into her sketchbook.

"Patio Dance Party"

Friday
January 15

Adam Brodsky
Adam Brodsky has a Guinness World Record for playing folk music. 50 shows, 50 states, 50 days. That and a token will get him on a bus. But that was earlier in this decade when things were simpler* Adam’s songwriting has won awards and accolades and made tens of thousands of people clap.** His live show is at once cerebral, outrageous and provoking, combining the best aspect of the “OMG I can’t believe he just said that, but it’s kinda true” with “Damn, that was kind of a tender sentimental song, for a sing along about hookers” It’s great craft, delivered simply, with the traditional Antifolk ethos. On his best days he occupies the space in those circle charts where Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan and most of the Hanks overlap with the Ramones and the Dead Milkmen. On his bad days he occupies a couch in front of the History channel. But as he ages, people have told him that his Willie is starting to show. Eh, describing sounds is an imperfect science, but his live show is an imperfect art. Come see him, and you’re guaranteed to see something unique. Seriously. Guaranteed.***

In the last four years, Adkins has focused on songwriting via co-writing and songwriting roundtables. The result has been 16-20 songs that he is currently recording with a core line-up of Michael Radcliffe on bass (Robert Hazard, Flock of Seagulls and Chubby Checker) and Neil Simpkins on drums (Frank’s Soda commercial with Patty Smyth and producer/drummer for Patsy Foster’s “Long Cold War”).

Andy McKee
Andy McKee is considered one of the world’s finest acoustic guitar soloists. His highly-developed two handed technique is reminiscent of some of Andy’s cherished guitar mentors and heroes: Preston Reed, Don Ross, Billy McLaughlin, and Michael Hedges. McKee’s live shows are a true testament to his art of stringsmanship and engaging repartee. He manages to capture both the every day music fan and guitar aficionados with his expertise and down to earth wit and humor. Whether it be explaining how his harp guitar tunes or why his frets are backward, Andy maintains his love for both fan and guitar player.

Up The Chain

Reed Kendall has been recording his original music since well before his voice changed. In May of 2009, Up the Chain played to a packed house at MilkBoy Coffee in Ardmore, PA. The best 14 songs were compiled and turned into the band's first full-length release, "Live @ MilkBoy" (September, 2009). On the record, Up the Chain take the substantive pop sensibility of Reed Kendall's songwriting and infuse it with hints of jazz and jam. Reed is influenced most by the poetic imagery of Conor Oberst, the live performance of Dave Matthews and the songwriting of Jack Johnson. Performed live, the songs take on a life of their own, giving way to soaring solos but never outstaying their welcome. The record features some of Philly's most well-known players: Chuck Treece (drums), Avery Coffee (electric guitar), Chris Aschman (trumpet), Anam Owili-Eger (keyboard), and Phil D'Agostino (bass).

Chris Kasper
Chris Kasper incorporates a vast array of influences in one original sound that appeals to rockers, folkies, hillbillies, and everyone in between.

"Chris Kasper knocks me out with the quality of his themes, his lyrics and memorable melodies. Chris is a heavy hitter and his new album is proves it." - Gene Shay/ WXPN,Philadelphia

Birdie Busch
The music of birdie busch is the concise sound of a well defined personality unfiltered by the social trends or factors that often define what people are or aren’t listening to. writing in deceptively simple terms, she reveals very complex and nuanced emotions and complicated narratives with stark phrases and novel turns of speech. Comparing it seems like an odd thing to do, and many often find themselves searching for a reference point, but critics from the village voice to american songwriter have admiringly found her of kindred spirit to everyone from syd barrett to eudora welty. She has shared stages with a variety of artists such as Richie Havens, Chris Smither, and Regina Spektor.

Cancelled due to weather.
Red Rooster

Sunday
February 7

Still based in New York City, the band has steadily built its audience and critical recognition, culminating in a slot at 2008’s Newport Folk Festival. Its previous double album Dose, released to critical acclaim, reached on the XM Radio Americana chart. The band will release its third album, “WALK,” in the fall of 2009. Their most mature work musically and lyrically, the album is infused with the musical tension between the traditional and the modern. The songs are deeply personal meditations on transitions, from the birth of a child to failed marriage and the draw of a simpler, more rural existence “off the grid.”

At the band's request, we are going to cancel and re-schedule.

Brian Severn & Those Victorious
Hailing from Frederick, Maryland, Brian Severn & Those Victorious are quickly proving to be tenacious self starters. Writing and performing highly melodic compositions with emotionally intelligent lyrics and big catchy hooks, it’s evident that their inspiration comes from within. The band which began as a solo acoustic project featuring Brian Severn has grown into a solid song-oriented powerhouse.

Their second EP entitled “Wonderboy”, officially released in February 2008, is now available online at their website, Best Buy, and digitally on iTunes. The band has begun touring extensively in support of their new release and is heading back into the studio in mid 2009 to record a new single with the assistance of producer David Ivory.

Shutters
Shutters began in 2007 as a vehicle for the original music of Emmett Lindsay, a Philadelphia based singer-songwriter.

Evolving as a rhythm-driven band, Shutters animates the broad mosaic of melodies and lyrics that Lindsay assembles. Rooted in contemporary rock, their varied harmonies allude to jazz and classical influences. All band members collaborate on arrangements.

As lead singer, Lindsay takes the reins on either guitar or piano with vocal support from sister and cellist Chloe Gallagher and bassist Dan Manchester. Idlewheel

Wissahickon Chicken Shack

Saturday
February 13

Idlewheel
IDLEWHEEL is the brainchild of Poco bassist/vocalist Jack Sundrud and Nashville songwriting veteran Craig Bickhardt. Together they create music equally informed by mainstream and alternative country, Triple A and Americana music. Their lyrics and harmonies are tempered with bluegrass, Country, folk and a dash of Southern California Country-Rock.

Craig Bickhardt and Jack Sundrud do it all with a wry nonchalance that belies their uncommon craftsmanship...these guys know the high road of country-rock better than most. Their credits are solid and sterling - Bickhardt was a member of renowned Nashville group SKB, while Sundrud enjoyed success with Great Plains and (most recently) Poco. But really, Idlewheel isn’t a spin-off (no pun intended) of these bands. It's more the product of afternoons spent swapping stories and woodshedding songs, of testing each others creative limits in defiance of Nashville’s prevailing conservatism.

Wissahickon Chicken Shack
A progressive seven-piece roots collective, the Wissahickon Chicken Shack rocks keys and drums (progressive, right?) while plucking and sliding across five sets of acoustic strings that conspire to crack the cocoons of your most tired of huddled masses, pull out the inner honky-tonk heroes within us all and charm ‘em into swaggering out, calming down and taking it all in stride.

It’s the goodtime, hip-shaking equivalent to buying you a frosty beer and fat slice of hummingbird cake. The heart wonders: why isn’t life always this much fun?

As a result of David's hands on approach, he is able to bring these talented performers  to Puck in Doylestown on a regular basis. Puck is proud to showcase the many talented artists and bands from Ivory Productions.

Anthony Gallucio
Gallucio’s passion for guitar is hard to miss; Gallucio is known as a singer, songwriter and guitar virtuoso. Audiences are left dazzled by his rapid-fire agility and effortless delivery of innovative techniques, and his repertoire includes his originals, spanning many musical genres. In 2001, Gallucio was honored with the Philadelphia Music Award for “Guitar Player of the Decade”. He’s known for wearing his heart on his sleeve when he performs, applying a natural flair and style that leaves audiences breathless. Gallucio describes his music as being a “tug-of-war” between three of his loves: blues, funk and traditional rock-n-roll. His music is a fusion of old school sound with modern flavors.

Calendar For Preston
Calendar for Preston, and their unique alternative rock sound, came on the Columbus Ohio music scene in late 2007. After recording their debut album, ‘Paint by Numbers’ with Grammy-winning Producer David Ivory, they quickly gained national attention. They have opened for Creed, became an MLB.com Major League Artist, been a featured artist on Channel One’s ‘Hear it Now’ and included in Pandora’s extensive library.

Rick Denzien
”Rick Denzien’s music has an eclectic alternative rock style that reminds me of a mix between Richard Marx and Pearl Jam. Sounds strange, I know, but if Richard Marx had Stone Gossard on guitar and didn’t sing so mellow all the time, you would have something quite like Rick Denzien. The really cool thing about Denzien’s music is that while I was listening and liking it, I caught my mom tappin.. her foot, too.” - Brandy Smouse - The Post Journal

Dave Pattern
Dave Patten creates his own brand of music from start to finish. Everything you hear on the singer/songwriter’s self-produced albums – acoustic and electric guitars, piano, drums, bass, synthesized horns and string parts – is Dave. Dave’s YouTube videos garner over 1.3 MILLION page views. In fact, multi-platinum selling artist Wyclef Jean saw Dave’s adaptation of his song “Sweetest Girl” and invited Dave to open for him at Atlantic City’s House of Blues. Brian Kennedy, producer of Rhianna’s “Disturbia,” discovered Dave’s cover of the song and was so impressed that he added it to his own MySpace.

Tom Taylor
No kin to “James” but one listen to this artist is reminiscent to the great acoustic artists of the past and present. Singer-songwriter Tom Taylor has proven to be a tenacious self-starter exhibiting highly melodic compositions and emotionally intelligent lyrics. His songs and signature voice can’t be mistaken and both overwhelm and stir the human emotion and soul.

“I fell head over heals in love with James Maddock’s music around the turn of the century when his band Wood released Songs From Stamford Hill… Imagine how thrilled I was to discover at the end f the decade James was living and working right under my nose in New York City, far below the radar, honing his skills, biding his time. Then understand how exhilarated and thoroughly gladdened I became upon hearing his new songs, heartbreakingly beautiful, exquisitely crafted, which pick right up where Stamford Hill left off. James Maddock’s talent has a timeless quality he shares with the great songwriters. His music touches the soul. How happy I am to have him back on the radar screen…the world at large needs artists like this.”

The Right Now
The Right Now are an incredible Chicago soul band…” "Soul is still alive, due in part to a bunch of white dudes from Chicago...the real draw here is lead singer Stefanie Berecz, whose dusty, hypnotic voice puts her in line to be another Jennifer Hudson-type success story."

- Avant/Chicago

Shaun Ruymen
Shaun Ruymen enters the music world through the hidden door behind the grandfather clock of Webster's fortunate foster experience. Previously working with life long friends in the project, Almost Green, Shaun has found the latch to unlock a separate side of his musical development and a new avenue to endlessly banter about the things stuck inside his head.

At any show you can expect to witness his infectious energy, poignant lyrics, and voice that slides passed your ears to reach the depths of any mind and soul.  In his debut solo album, "Luckiest Man Alive", Shaun reminds listeners to dream is to believe as he engages his audience through his melodic musical talents. This album gives listeners a look inside the mind of an ordinary guy. His writing is refreshing and reminds audiences they are not alone in the ups and downs of ordinary life...Armed with a powerful voice, intense energy, and genuine heart, Shaun Ruymen is the not-so-ordinary artist you don't want to miss!

At 13 he was touring the Mid-Atlantic club circuit as the only teenager in his first band while working with Grammy-nominated engineer and producer, David Ivory and has been raising eyebrows and dropping jaws ever since. Eric is equally at ease on acoustic with a cellist backing him or strapping on the electric with a full band and everything cranked to 11. Eric’s talents can also be heard on the 2008 album, “my incurable obsession” that was co-produced, engineered and mixed by David Ivory with Eric’s former band, “Not Alone”. Eric wrote or co-wrote each track and co-produced the album.

Big Blue Spruce

Stolen Rhodes

Friday
March 19

Big Blue Spruce
Big Blue Spruce plays vintage rock and roll, both mellow and raunchy. Their recordings feature a tight, smooth groove with floating harmonies, while their live show is an energetic, loose and raucous experience that allows for a free interpretation of the music. Big Blue Spruce is a power trio with a lead guitar, a lead bass, and a lead drummer. With songs about wandering, wondering, and discovering, they take simple concepts and song structures and twist them just far enough off-course to find their own path. Somewhat psychedelic, somewhat southern rock, and somewhat all their own, Big Blue Spruce continues to work in the studio after the 2009 release of the SEEDS EP while playing shows and spreading the word to anyone that will listen.

Stolen Rhodes

Classic rock meets modern sounds, Bruce Springsteen meets Dave Matthews. However you describe it, Delaware Valley band Stolen Rhodes makes music to please almost any crowd. At every show you are guaranteed to see a unique performance by talented musicians playing real instruments, making real music.

Since the band kicked off the release of their EP “From The Dark Side of 88” in May of 2009 at Surf Taco in Jackson, N.J, they haven't looked back.

Fans describe band members Kevin Cunningham, Matt Pillion, Dan Haase, and Ian Petri as, “the hardest working band in the tri state area.” because the band plays several times a week, all without the help of a label or booking agency. Stolen Rhodes is currently working on their debut album, but in the mean time they are winning fans over weekly wherever they play.

The Fitzmaurice Band

Blood Feathers

Saturday
March 20

The Fitzmaurice Band
With influences spanning bluegrass and country to jazz, classical, internation folk and classic rock, the Fitzmaurice Band has developed a sound truly its own.

The energy, interplay and synchronicity they possess are characteristic of the most seasoned of bands, and their love for music comes across with perfect clarity, absorbing the audience into their experience and generating a genuine bond between listener and performer.

Blood Feathers
Ben Dickey and Drew Mills formed Blood Feathers in 2005 to perpetuate America’s most important export, Rock n’ Roll music. Sailing the same tradewinds that brought rhythm to the New World and shipped gospel, blues, and jazz back as a thank you note, Dickey and Mills write songs that snug into the grooves of your grandmother’s 78s as easily as they download into the mystery of your IPod.

Run To Sandy

JD Malone
Run To Sandy was formed from the smoldering ashes of several post-punk, neo-corporate professional existences (day jobs), rising like a Phoenix over the hearts and minds of a people so desperate for contact. This music brushed their faces like an elegiac symphony --- a combustion of convention that settled like snow on a flat, heartland field. Each member faithfully reproduces the chiming of their true selves with each and every performance, spawning a new offspring with the same DNA, but a face completely their own.
